IRISH NORTHERN AID COMMITTEE (INAC)
REGISTRATION ACT - NORTHERN IRELAND
Re New York 1etter dated 4/30/73.
Relet advised recipients of the location of various
INAC chapters and officers in the U.S. Several field offices
have been conducting Registration Act investigation in connection
with the INAC and have requested Bureau permission to interview
selected officers of the local INAC chapters to develop additional
information regarding the activities of the INAC and whether
these local officers may have incurred an obligation to register
under the provisions of the Foreign Agents Registration Act of
1938, as amended.
The matter of interviews of selected officers
of the local INAC chapters was discussed with the Department.
By 1etter dated 9/13/73, the Department advised that while a
final determination has not been made with reference to the method
for additional compliance under the Foreign Agents Registration
Act by the various chapters of the INAC, they had no objection to
the comtemplated interviews of selected officers by the FBI.
They requested that the. results -of the interviews be furnished to
the Department since this would be a valuable aid in determining
the proper method of obtaining further compliance under the above
Act.
The above is submitted to security Agents for
information and possible future guidance.
Insure that any
information developed re the INAC and its various officers and
members, which might be of assistance to .the Department, is
furnished to the Bureau in form suitable for dissemination with
copies designated for New York which is office of origin in
captioned matter.
