The Irisk Northern Aid Committee, aka NoRAID, was
a 1o oa 'a 'oat ut og
Republican Army veterans of the l919-l92l Anglo-Irish War.
According to Flanrery, NoRAiD was organi.zed for th.e scle
purpose of "feeding and clothing the homeless, the hungry,
and the naked."
However, in April, l982, the United States
Departnent: of Justice (DoJ) charge? in a suit brought under
the Foreign Agent's Registrati.on Act, thait NORAID "since its
inception...has acte:d as the: Agent in thi.s country of the
Provisional Wing, of the Irisk Republican Army, its political.
arm, the Sinn Fein, ard their affiliates."
A United States District Court Judge for the Southern
District of New York (SDNy). ruled. that NORAID. violated- -provisions
of the act by failing to idertify as a'foreign principal the
Provisional Winc of the Irish Republican Army. Additionally, the
