the following background informationyconcerning the "Irish
American Unity Conference" (IAuc).
stated that on the
weekend of July 15-17,
to form the IRISH AMERICAN UNITY
CONFERENCE.
These delegates
represented 6l7 Irish American organizations with a combined
membership of over l million people.
Some of the organizations represented are:
The AOH
in AMerica; IRISH AMERICAN LABOR COALITION; AMERICAN IRISH
NATIONAL POLITICAL EDUCATITONCOMMITTEE
C(PEC）;IRISH NORTHERN
AID;
"UNITED IRISH SOCIETIES OF ILLINOIS; YIDDISH SONS OF ERIN;
EMERALD SOCIETY;
IRISH FORUM OF SAN FRANCISCO: N.Y.C.
FIRE
DEPARTMENT;
and
UNITEDIRISH SOCIEITIESOFDETROIT.
The goals of the IAu are:
1.
Reunification of Ireland
(top priority); 2. /For the Irish in Ireland to determine
their own national/destiny; 3.
Support American political
withdraw its trogps from Irish Soil; 4.
They believe that
the British generated Ulster problem is a danger to the Anglo-
American ailiafice; 5.
The IAu believes in supporting American
legislation that will facilitate Irish national and economic
development Such as:
The Biaggi Bill to authorize U.S. Foreign
Aid to Ireland once the British leave, and the country is
reunited; The Gilman Bill calling on the U.S. to cut off all
military aid to England which may be used for the oppression
of Catholics in Northern Ireland; The Ottinger Bill which
